THIS JUST IN: The days of dinner and live entertainment all in one building are back! I am pleased to announce the long-awaited return of the “supper club”! In South Florida, where “real” live entertainment fizzled out along with “’real” nightclubs nearly 3 decades ago, Jazziz Bistro has taken over as the Premier Live Entertainment Supper Club for the entire South Florida area, bar none. I have been “making the scene” in the tri-county area for longer than I would like to admit, and I am here to tell you…Jazziz Bistro & Live Music is the place for adults to get their groove on. National acts, local legends and nightly killer entertainment is always on tap.

The Dining and Show Area

My Celebrity Guest Natasza Pludowski, from the very exclusive Ian Alexander Hair Salon in Delray Beach, Florida, and I made the scene on a recent Friday night for dinner and the show. We arrived to a full dining room / club, and had a drink at the ultra-modern curved bar in the front room as we waited for our table. Even though the place was slammed, the service at the bar was perfect…in less than two minutes we had cocktails in front of us. Next we were escorted to a centrally located booth in the main dining room, with a perfect view of the stage. Our server Blake was efficient, with a cool tableside manner, as he delivered a dirty martini and Cosmopolitan, both straight up, without spilling a drop. That was no small feat, as we had watched him maneuver through the fast growing crowd.

There is an interesting array of choices on the Jazziz Bistro dinner menu, including appetizers of Stir Fried Edamame, Shanghai Pork Dumplings and Crab Fried Rice to name a few. Natasza and I were soon to discover that Executive Chef Jay Prisco, and Chefs de Cuisine Danny Mithen and Amy Mothe are producing 1st class food here at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music. We opted for one of the special appetizers of the day, Spicy Tuna Rolls, as well as a classically made creamy Lobster Bisque…both outstanding. While we enjoyed our appetizers, the band began playing, featuring Valerie Tyson and a great rhythm section, consisting of keyboards, horns and guitar…these guys jam! Every song is delivered with perfection and enthusiasm, with the crowd loving every moment of the show! Lead singer Valerie really knows how to “work” the crowd, with song selections ranging from Jazz to rock, to solid R & B. This is a must see act among many to appear on Jazziz Bistro’s semi-circular Klipsch style sound stage. Oh, and for you sound aficionados, you will quickly be able to tell you are listening to some of the best audio equipment available anywhere. Professional lighting, and a full sound booth with an engineer, makes for memorable, perfectly mixed performances each and every night. Richard Elliot and Spyro Gyra, who has consistently been one of the most commercially successfully pop-jazz groups of the past 20 years, played here recently. More awesome shows are already planned for the future, so check out www.jazzizbistro.com for their calendar of upcoming acts and events.

Our empty appetizer plates were cleared, and the table prepared for the main courses just as smooth as silk. As Blake opened a bottle of chardonnay for us, Natasza mentioned to me what a great personality Blake has. We both agreed that he really made our visit to Jazziz a pleasure. His ability to recommend food and wine confidently, but never domineering, is a trait more servers in this town should work on perfecting.

The next thing I knew, I was gazing at a steaming hot Island Spiced Mahi Mahi, finished with Rock Shrimp and Roasted Corn Sauté, then topped with pineapple salsa and a citrus buerre blanc. Natasza enjoyed another chef’s special of the night, Surf & Turf. A Filet Mignon and half a lobster tail, served with horseradish-mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach, further refined with a cabernet reduction sauce…phenomenal dinners both! Other main choices recommended by Blake included New Orleans Style Shrimp & Chicken Gumbo, Pepper Crusted NY Strip Steak, Lemon Grilled Salmon and Sesame Seared Tuna with crab fried rice and a wasabi-soy drizzle…so many great choices demands more than one visit to this oasis in the middle of Paradise at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino!

For dessert we opted for an assortment of Crème Brulee, and at Blake’s suggestion, a delicious warm Apple Cobbler, topped with melting vanilla bean ice cream...so good. Key Lime Pie and Strawberry Shortcake was available as well. Check this out…one of the best things we had all night, was a couple Expresso Martinis each. I have tried this drink all over the USA, and have never had one even come close to Jazziz Bistro’s award winning concoction. With its creamy, frothy head, this drink alone is worth the trip to Jazziz, but since it is such a great “after-dinner” drink…you might as well make your reservations for dinner first. Jazziz Bistro & Live Music is beautifully decorated inside, replete with lush floor to ceiling drapes, plasma televisions everywhere, and even a large outdoor bar that fills with customers every night. One night spent within the walls of this hip restaurant / club, and you will be hooked! Plan your next special event, holiday party or whatever reasons you can think of! When you figure out what you want to celebrate, call Melanie Santos, Director of Marketing and Special Events at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music, and she will do the rest. She is very professional and accommodating! Your party would be a big success here…and an event to remember for a long time.

Chef Jay Prisco took the time to stop by our table before we left, and we spent a few minutes talking about his background. Trained at Penn State and Florida Culinary, he is only 32 years old, and already an extremely talented chef. During the consumption of our Expresso Martinis, Natasza and I kicked back in our giant booth and listened to Valerie sing some sexy Sade tunes. We looked at each other, and knew without speaking that we were already planning our next visit to Jazziz Bistro & Live Entertainment.
